The Temple is situated few hundred meters from the Medawala Bazaar on the Katugastota Medawala road. This is one of the old viharaya repaired during the Kurunegala and Gampola periods.

The “Tampita Viharaya” found here has been constructed by Kirthi Sri Rajasinghe in 1753 A.D. and is one of the best small temples of the period.
