Wild Life Exploration

There’s an exotic isle Asia, where the traveler is guided by sheer instinct. The jungles of Sri Lanka abound in a variety of wildlife, which is surprising for an island of its size in the topics. The island may be small but the animals are big, especially the herds of Asian elephant that live inside and outside the national parks. Leopards and water buffaloes are just some of the other creatures.

Wake up to the call of indigenous birds. Drink deep from a babbling brook. Take in the moist air of a rain forest. Spend an afternoon in the presence of snoozing leopards and bathing elephants. Watch an amorous peacock flaunt its plumage against the flaming sunset. Turn your gaze towards the ocean to witness pods of frolicking dolphins at play. Dive deep to discover multi-hued underwater gardens and the colorful habitat among silent shipwrecks. As night falls, end one adventure and start another.

There are several National Parks, of these the best known is the Yala National Park in the deep south of the island. The other parks are Udawalawa National Park, Minneriya National Park, Kumana National Park, Pottuvil etc. The topography and vegetation change from park to park, even the fauna and flora. Most common in these parks are elephants and bird habitats.
