Hambantota (Lunugamwehera)

LUNUGAMVEHERA NATIONAL PARK– is 23,498.8 hectares in extent and is between the Udawalawe and Yala National Parks. This was declared as a National Park in 1995 but was opened for visitors only in December 2004. The entrance to the Park is from the Lunugamvehera town.

This Park is famous for large herds of Elephants, Spotted Deer, Barking Deer, Wild Boar, Wild Buffalo, Leopard, Sloth Bear and many species of birds.

It is situated in an elephant corridor between the two parks.
