Kandy (Lankatilake Temple)
This is an important Buddhist Temple in Kandy, constructed by Sthapati Rayar- a South
Indian Architect. Who has completed this in the Kandyan style of Architecture. The King’s Chief Minister Senadilankara constructed this Temple in 1344 A.D.
The original building was a four storied one, 80 feet in height and now only 2 floors remain. The beautiful paintings consist of “Suvisi Vivaranaya” and a large beautiful Buddha Statue in the center.
The several Devalaya are connected to the Buduge wall and an outer wall covers the area.
