BATADOMBALENA – AN ANCIENT PREHISTORIC CAVE

It is found that “Batadomba Lena “ is located on a hill, when you travel 4 k.m.s along the  Guruluwana road and  you  have to  travel  1 k.m from the Kuruwita town off the Colombo-Ratnapura main road . This stone cave located on a hill of 250 ft. in height extends to 500 ft. in lenghth.  Batadomba lena, or cave, is associated with the Balangoda man (Homo sepian  balangodensis). Anatomically modern, prehistoric human remains found in Sri Lanka are commonly referred to as Balangoda Man. In Sri Lanka, Batadombalena has yielded the evidence at 31,000 BP of anatomically modern man.
